People for Ethical Treatment of IITians

As u might have noticed by now, the name of this blog is a shameless liftoff of the name of the popular and much sympathised with organization PETA. Now, we mean no offense either to PETA or any of its patrons. Or any animals for that matter.

We, at IIT feel that animals are wonderful people, and have immense love for them. Its just that we're kind of jealous of them.

The point is, that if u overcrowd animals at your farm and stuff 2 cows in the space adequate for only one, you can be sure that as soon as the matter gets exposed, someone will have your ass in a frying pan.

But do that to the students of India's no. 1 engineering college, and you shall be lauded, as doing a great service to the nation. Case in point - The recent humongous increase in student intake at IIT's, which has lead to a crunch in just about everything. Most of all : space. I can personally vouch for the condition of 2nd year students in IITD, who are stuffed 2 to a room that measures Less than 80 sq ft !. Just for the record, American prisons have a minimum stipulated space of 60 sq ft per inmate. And to maintain a horse stable, u must provide each horse with a minimum 80 sq ft of space. So that's 1.5 IITians to an American prisoner, and 2 IITians to a horse...
I'll describe the beauty of these rooms in more detail in a later post, but in the meanwhile I guess u'd have figured that the space crunch isn't limited to hostel rooms. Since the Increase in intake has been carried out all of a sudden, on a certain gentleman's whim, no one has bothered yet to bring about a proportionate increase in resources. As a result, we are short on quite a few things. Every area in the campus is crowded - classrooms, corridors, canteens, loos... you get the picture...
So we thought it was high time we tried raising a voice... Talked to each n everyone in authority from the bottom up, but the buck hasn't stopped yet... So there we go, the way of animals... Since our voice isn't being paid anymore attention than theirs... Will keep ya updated... Hail the Brethren !

P.S. We'd like to thank Mr. Arjun Singh from the heart of our bottoms... If it wasn't for him, this site wouldn't have existed...
